Snow’s Garden Center was started in the spring of 1912 by Leroy H. Snow and his wife, Maggie as a small vegetable and tomato plant business. In 1932, son Leroy W. Snow took over the business and added trees, shrubs, landscaping, and yard maintenance. His wife, Viola, handled the bookkeeping. In 1950, Leroy started the Snow Knows radio program, which continues today on WINA.
In 197o, Leroy’s son Duane, who had just graduated from Brigham Young University, moved back to Virginia with his wife Rena and 8 years later, took over the Snow’s business.
Today, Snow’s is operated by Corbin Snow, the 4th generation of Snows to manage the Garden Center and Landscaping Services. This thriving business has become a Charlottesville institution and continues to provide support to their community.
